2013 Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt

The community of Excelsior kicked off the 2013 Christmas Season with our Thanksgiving Weekend Extravaganza Christkindlsmarkt.

Excelsior is the perfect venue where the magic of Christmas prevails. The festival was an amazing success, and enjoyed by all ages grandchildren to grandparents.

We had a visit from Santa’s’ reindeer and the new addition of KinderWorld was so fun and also offered a warm retreat from the frosty temps.

There were countless volunteers whose participation is so appreciated, and who make it possible for Excelsior to have such a wonderful family oriented Christmas festival .
We wish to extend a grateful Thank You to all who participated as volunteers.

We also wish to extend a thank you to the many sponsors of Christkindlsmarkt. Without these Sponsors we would not be able to put on the festival and include all the magical elements that make Christkindlsmarkt so very special and memorable.

We hope your heart is touched with the joy that was so evident in the eyes of the children at Christkindlsmarkt as they gazed at Santa Claus, his Reindeer, talked to the Christkindl Angel, listened to the storytellers and balloon artist in KinderWorld, marched in the parade, and rode the Northpole Trolley with Santa.

Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt seeking volunteers

We're seeking additional volunteers for the Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt Nov 29-Dec 1, 2013.  We need some volunteers to greet festival goer's (it's a Free Event), hand out Gift Bags, photographers, parade helpers (for Friday Nov 29 at 10:00 AM) and also the night time Lighted Lantern Parade (Friday Evening), helpers at the NorthPole Trolley ticket booth and a few more.

Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt Exciting Vendors Nov 29 - Dec 1, 2013

Exciting vendor participation this year. Many returning vendors plus some new ones, including Baltic Imports. Nice variety of unique gifts, Made in Minnesota wares, artisian, handmade, food gifts, alpaca wool clothing,  plus food and beverage vendor trucks. NorthPole trolley will be operating all three days so you can take a ride with Santa!

Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt German Christmas Festival on Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving Weekend Christmas Extravaganza -- Enchanting Holiday Experience

The Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt is hosting their 8th annual Festival.
Where: A new location this year; in the East Municipal Lot behind Excelsior Brewery.
When: Thanksgiving weekend beginning Friday,Nov. 29th, 30th,& Dec.1st.
Hours: Friday 10:00am to 7:00 pm beer garden and music continues till 10pm
Saturday 10:00am to 7:00pm beer garden and music continues till 10pm
Sunday 11:00am to 4:00pm

We begin at 10:00a.m. Friday November 29th, with the
Christkindlsmarkt Parade down Water Street.
The parade is led by our Christmas Angel Ellen Hunt, Santa Claus,
the Royals of Spielmannszug, the Minnetonka High School Choir,
Excelsior Town crier Darel Liepold, Mayors of local towns,
plus Santa's Elves, Knight Family Farms Horse & Buggy, plus other dignitaries and Excelsiorites.
The Market officially is open as Santa and the Christmas Angel cut the ribbon,
featuring gifts ranging from modern to vintage to traditional German.

Throughout the three days we have a full schedule of local musical talents
including demonstrations.
We have a new addition; "Kinder World" with puppet show, jugglers, local authors reading traditional Christmas stories.
The Boy Scouts will be selling their traditional wreaths and swags.
The Northpole Trolley has Santa Claus on board operating all hours of the Market.
Saturday Santa's live Reindeer arrive on Saturday
and we have the favorite Alpacas who talk to you.

The Festival has continued as the original open air market featuring
German Christmas Food traditions including Grilled Sausage, Roasted almonds, Sweet & Savory Strudels,
Kindercocoa, Gluhwein 'hot mulled wine', gingerbread, cakes and cupcakes, candies,
hot cider, and other delicacies.

Friday evening at 5:30pm make way for the Children's Lighted Lantern Parade
on Water Street
all children are invited and welcome.
Santa, the Christmas Angel, and other dignataries will join us.

Saturday We have Breakfast with Santa at the Masonic Hall situated next
to the Christkindls site from 7-10:30
the market officially opens at 10:00 am
many entertainers are scheduled including The Chaska Community Choir.

Sunday the Market opens at 11:00 am
The Arbor Bells group, will be first on the music schedule come and enjoy.
3:00pm the festival will close with The Sound's of Praise Children's Choir
from the Woodale Church.

Flea Market will be open Saturday, Sept 7, 2013.
Vendors should arrive at 6 am to set up. Enter Excelsior via Lake Street from Maynard's to avoid possible traffic from Apple Day race beginning on Water Street near George Street. Follow Lake Street to flea market entrance just past Haskell's and the Port of Excelsior. Vendor spaces will be approx 10x10. We will have the spaces marked off and will assign based on first come, first serve basis. Hours are 9:00 am - 3:00 pm (or as late as 5:00 pm, to coincide with Apple Day street vendors). Vendor space is $25 for each 10x10 space. 10 Water Street, Excelsior, MN 55331. contact myrlemac@aol.com with questions.

Check out my cute Fairy Garden Door I got at the Flea Market

Check out my cute toadstool we brought to the Excelsior Flea Market so I could choose the perfect door for it. A bonus is that Ignatzz is going to build me some custom stairs for any fairies that happen to come by this summer!
The vendor says you can bring your garden accessories to him to see which door or window looks best. He also has some finished Fairy Garden houses made from interesting logs if you don't have anything to bring.

See you at the Flea Market today!  open 9-3 lots of vendors expected today, and some new ones!  The bike Tour de Tonka runs on Lake St later today. We're excited for a great weather day and lots of people in Excelsior!

July 27 Excelsior MN Flea Market!

The Flea Market started out with nice weather, but then got some rain and wind! We had a great selection of vendors with treasure to be found! Here are some photos from the Excelsior Flea Market last Saturday. Thanks to all who came! We even had a couple "Party Busses" stop by on their way to Lake Minnetonka with some shoppers to our Flea Market.

Great day at the Excelsior Flea Market...a little rainy in the morning, but then turned beautiful. Record number of vendors today made the Flea Market fun. Lots of deals and treasures. We got some sunglasses, a lot of beads (all you could stuff into a bag for $7)!, a "star" ring, another great knife from Rada Knives and cutlery, a trade bead necklace, a mini chiropractic review, and some basil from a seasonal produce vendor. Had fun and got some treasures too!
