The Excelsior Christkindlsmarkt is hosting their 8th annual Festival.
Where: located on East Drive and Water St./3rd St.
When: Thanksgiving weekend beginning Friday, Nov. 28th, 29th, & 30th.
Hours: Friday 10:00am to 7:00 pm beer garden and music continues till 10pm
Saturday 10:00am to 7:00pm beer garden and music continues till 10pm
Sunday 11:00am to 4:00pm beer garden open Sunday at noon
We begin at 10:00a.m. Friday November 28th, with the
Christkindlsmarkt Parade down Water Street.
The parade is led by our Christkindl Angel, Father Christmas, Grand Marshall Joe Ryan and his grandchildren, Hennepin County Commissioner Jan Callison, the singer-actors from Chaska Valley Family theater performing the musical "A Christmas Carol", the Royals of Spielmannszug, Excelsior Town crier Daryl Liepold, Mayor Mark Gaylord, and past Mayor Nick Ruehl,
plus Elves, Fairies, the Ice Princess, Knight Family Farms Horse & Buggy, plus others.
The Market officially is open as the Christkindl Angel cut the ribbon.
The outdoor market features gifts ranging from modern to vintage to traditional German.
Throughout the three days we have a full schedule of local musical talents, choirs, and musicians.
Also back again this year is "KinderWorld" offering activities for the youth which includes storytelling, reading traditional Christmas stories, demos, make and take, facepainter, puppet show.
The Boy Scouts will be selling their traditional wreaths and swags.
The NorthPole Trolley with Father Christmas on board operating all hours of the Market.
Friday and Saturday afternoon live Reindeer dance through the site and also take part in the St.Marten's Children Lantern Parades at 5pm each evening.
and we have the favorite Alpacas visiting, who talk to you.
The Festival has continued as the original German open air market featuring
German Christmas Food traditions including Grilled Sausage, Roasted almonds, Sweet & Savory Strudels, Kindercocoa, Gluhwein 'hot mulled wine', gingerbread, cakes and cupcakes, candies,
hot cider, and other delicacies.
Friday evening at 5:00pm make way for St. Marten's Children's Lighted Lantern Parade
on Water Street all children are invited and welcome. Father Christmas, the Christkindl, and lots and lots of children proceed down Water Street from the corner of Water & Lake on Water St to third then left to the festival they will light the Christmas Tree and sing Christmas carols. The sponsor of the St.Martin Parade ReMax Colleen Johnson Group will hand out goodie bags and also prizes for the best Christmas hat in the parade.
